About Us
Hello! I am Margaret Wilson, owner of Barrie Loving Care Pet Services.
I have always loved animals. I have lived and worked with
animals my entire life. As a young girl, my family always had several pets, and
even then I was looking after my neighbour’s animals. Horses were my passion
throughout high school.
I graduated from the University of Guelph and have worked in the pet and
veterinary businesses for over 20 years. I have studied animal behaviour, and
have learned obedience training along with my energetic Australian Shepherds. I
have handled animals of all types, sizes, and temperaments. In addition to many
dogs and cats, I have owned rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats,
turtles, fish, hermit crabs, and even a chameleon. I love them all! After years
of working in veterinary hospitals, I am competent at administering medications
to pets, including insulin injections and subcutaneous fluids.
I have rescued and fostered homeless, unwanted, orphaned and abandoned animals
my entire adult life, including kittens and puppies, rabbits and hamsters,
turtles and squirrels. I volunteered with the Peel Region SPCA when I lived in
Mississauga. In Barrie, I have volunteered with Furry Friends Animal Rescue as
well as the Barrie Food Bank.
I lived in Mississauga for close to twenty years. In 2012, I moved to Barrie
to be closer to family. I currently live with Teddy, a shihpoo, Sophie, a mini
dachshund, four cats, and my teenage daughter, who assists me with the pets.
My own frustration with finding quality, reliable pet care was part of my
motivation for starting a pet care business. The main motivation is that I am
happiest when I can help both people and animals, and spend my days surrounded
with pets!
